Diverse dances, songs and folkloric games were developed since the IX and X centuries in Việt Nam, in which the ca trù was an integrated part. From the Lý dynasty (in 1010) until the Trần dynasty (in 1225), the artist-kings and poet-kings created several works which were later played by courtesans in the imperial palace. However the ca trù never stopped at the entertainment level, this was also a ritual form to the cult of “the Sky” and “the Earth” thus paying tribute to “their” godsend deeds.
